Gulabi puvulu(rose flowers) | Rice flour fried cookies is an authentic sweet recipe of India, mostly prepared in south India. The shape of these cookies resembles rose flowers hence the name gulabi puluvu(rose flowers). The maker(mould) is made of aluminium and comes with a long handle. This maker/mould is easily available in online stores such as amazon.



These cookies/flowers are made of rice flour and all purpose flour(maida) and has an immense flavour of cardamom(elichi) which adds more taste to the cookies. These cookies are detached from the mould using any sharp object, we have used knife to detach it. Below is the procedure:
  • Author : Annapurna

  • Yields : 20 cookies

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Maida / All purpose flour - 2 cups
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • oil - For deep fry
  • Cardamom powder - 2 tea spoons

Procedure:

  • Dissolve sugar in water and keep aside.
  • In a bowl mix rice flour, maida(all purpose flour), cardamom powder and sugar water(point 1) and mix well to a creamy, flowing consistency batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan for frying the cookies.
  • Once oil is heated dip the cookie maker in the oil and let it sit for 5 mins.
  • Now dip the heated maker in the batter as shown in the video and let it sit for 5 secs and place it immediately in the oil.
  • After some 5 seconds slowly de mould/detach the cookie from the mould using a sharp object like knife as shown in the video.
  • Fry till golden brown on both the sides.
  • Crispy and tasty gulabi puvulu | rice flour fried cookies ready.
